Description

The Guided Tour "From Autocracy to Liberty" in the Old Town of Stockholm starts in the beginning of the 18:th century when the construction of the new Royal Castle starts under a autocratic king and the Guided Tour ends in the mid-19:th century when the first permanent Parliament building is inaugurated in the Old Town.

This period of approx. 150 years is one of the most dynamic periods in the whole history of Stockholm. During the whole period the construction of the Royal Castle continues and when it's completed in the mid-19:th century Stockholm is a very different city from when the construction started. This is the Guided Tour that you probably would like not the end if you are interested in the people in Stockholm and why they became to be as they are today.

We will tell you about Kings and Queens, about noblemen and not so noble men, about the first publishers, about the darker side of the city with thieves and killers, how the city was cleaned and where the garbage was disposed. If you are on your way ot to have a dinner in the evening we will also tell you about food and drinking (and it was a lot of the later) during this period. If you are a school class we will also tell you about schools and child labour during this period. In short, we will adapt the Guided Tour to your preferences but the story will alway's be told in an entertaining way.
